West LakeHangzhou, about 180 kilometers (100 miles) southwest of Shanghai, is an old city with a history of more than 2,200 years. It used to be the capital of China’s Southern Song Dynasty (1127 - 1279). It is now the capital of Zhejiang province.

Acclaimed as "Earthly Heaven," Hangzhou is a very picturesque city with its most enchanted beauty lying in the West Lake, also known as Western Fairy Lake. The lake is surrounded by green hills on three sides with one side facing the city. Bai Dyke and Su Dyke lined with willow and peach trees divide the lake into five unique parts. Mini Fairyland, Mid-lake Pavilion and Ruan Yuan’s Mound in the middle of the lake are like fairy islets only accessible by boat.

The lake is scattered with more than 40 scenic sites and over 30 historical relics, among which there are 10 must-see scenes:
